Forming Worlds Lab Code of Conduct

The University of Groningen strives to be a university in which students and staff are respected and feel at home, regardless of differences in background, experiences, perspectives, and identities. We believe that working on our core values of inclusion and equality are a joint responsibility and we are constructively working on creating a socially safe environment. Diversity among students and staff members enriches academic debate and contributes to the quality of our teaching and research. For more information, see also the Diversity and Inclusion Policy of the University of Groningen.

The Forming Worlds Lab is highly diverse in culture and gender. We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free, safe environment for everyone, regardless of race, nationality, religion (or lack thereof), gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, politics, and appearance. Harassment of group members is not tolerated, in any form. Forms of harassment include, but are not limited to: sexual imagery or language, verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination, racially charged language or jokes, deliberate intimidation or stalking, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome attention including photography and recording, sustained disruption of talks and advocating for any of the above.

All research group members are expected to adhere to this Code of Conduct during all academia- and group-related activities. Violations of the code of conduct may result in verbal and written warnings, and repeated or gross violations may result in removal from the research group.

If you experience or witness harassment, or have any other concerns, please
contact Tim Lichtenberg immediately. For concerns involving dr. Lichtenberg or requiring escalation, contact the Office for Diversity and Inclusion, the Confidential Advisor, or your HR advisor at the University of Groningen.
